CORNETTE
This is the cornet we have always wanted to build! This instrument is a combination of what we love about the best cornets from over a hundred years ago and everything we've learned in the last 30+ years of building innovative new Monette instruments. The sound of the CORNETTE has more of everything we love from the golden era of the cornet solos - but with all the intonation and response advantages of modern Monette instruments! When we played the first notes on the prototype CORNETTE a few years ago (made for Ron Miles), we were shocked at how slotted and responsive it was - it almost felt like we were playing a piano! The intonation, response, greatly extended dynamic range and effortless upper register are just a dream come true for cornet players. And the fun part is, all this is accomplished in a lightweight instrument that is no heavier than mass produced cornets! This instrument plays and sounds like a modernized version of the best antique cornets - not like most modern cornets made with trumpet parts and bent in the shape of a cornet! Now we make these radically improved instruments as a regular part of our production schedule.
